This is a team effort.
I build your site and then teach you how to update it yourself. If you need a designer who you pay to do updates for you, that is not me. But if you want to have control over your site and be able to update it regularly for free, then we will be a good fit. So we are a team in the sense that I build your site and you take care of it.
We are also a team in creating it.
When you want to make a website, it's best to pick a time in your life where other projects have wrapped up and there is space for a month or so to work on your site. You'll be gathering photos, information, video, and writing content for your site. I'll help you organize and edit it, but you'll need time to let your own ideas flow too. And time is spent giving me feedback through every stage of the process.
What takes the most time is communication.
If we're talking in person about a draft with the site in front of us, we can discuss edits easily and clearly, and maybe even try them out right then. It is also good when we talk over the phone with both of us in front of the computer. Emailing takes a bit longer because we both have to spend time writing out our ideas and feedback. It still works, but it's important to remember when you are budgeting for your site that if you have time to talk, it will cost less.
Contact me about a month or two before you need your site.
It may take that long to build your site depending on if I'm currently booked, or if we only find one day per week in our schedules where we can collaborate, or if your site has many elements to build. I have made some sites in 2 weeks. So it varies.
I'll make sure you are comfy flying before I nudge you out of the nest.
We'll have a tutorial to teach you how to update the site yourself. You'll also have access to the online manual under the How To page and 24/7 online help through Weebly. My favorite thing is looking at a client's site and discovering that they've moved on without me, evidenced by regularly-updated content twinkling on their pages.
